Hey there, anglers! Ready for a day of non-stop action on the water? Grab your hat and sunscreen, 'cause we're heading out to the Louisiana marshes for some world-class fishing. Whether you're a seasoned pro or just getting your feet wet, Get'n Hooked Inshore Adventures has got you covered with our full-day New Orleans fishing charters. We're talking about hauling in monster redfish, outsmarting crafty speckled trout, and maybe even landing a doormat flounder. So let's dive into what makes this trip a must-do for any fishing enthusiast visiting the Big Easy.
Picture this: You're cruising through the maze-like marshes of Louisiana, the sun's just coming up, and there's a chill in the air that tells you the fish are gonna be biting. Our full-day charter gives you the time to really explore these rich waters, targeting a variety of species that'll keep you on your toes. We're not just fishing here, folks – we're on a mission to fill the cooler with some of the tastiest fish the Gulf has to offer. From the heart-pounding fight of a bull redfish to the finesse needed to land a specked trout, this trip's got it all. And the best part? Our experienced captains know these waters like the back of their hand, so you're in for a day of non-stop action.
Alright, let's talk shop. We'll be using a mix of techniques depending on what's biting and where. Expect to do some live bait fishing with shrimp or mullet, maybe toss some soft plastics, or even try your hand at sight fishing for tailing reds in the shallow grass flats. Our boats are decked out with top-notch gear, but if you've got a favorite rod, feel free to bring it along. We'll be navigating through a network of bayous, channels, and grass flats – each spot offering a different challenge and opportunity. One minute you might be casting into a deep hole for black drum, the next you're flipping jigs under docks for sheepshead. It's this variety that keeps anglers coming back year after year.
Don't just take our word for it – here's what some of our recent guests had to say:
"Had an all day trip booked with Captain Clinton. We met him at his boat and he greeted us like we'd been friends for yrs. He was very knowledgeable and experienced. He took time to understand each of our individual levels of experience and catered to each accordingly. He made the trip very fun and enjoyable. He put us in the right spots to catch fish. We will definitely be booking another trip in the future." - David
"Capt. Clinton was great to fish with! We had a group of 5 family members go out, and even though the weather conditions didn't totally cooperate with us (very windy which is never ideal), Capt. Clinton worked hard all day to put us on fish. We had a great time! He is very personable and is good at giving instructions, tips, tricks and advice and generally teaching you about fishing (and many other topics as well)! He's got a nice big boat with a center console and roof so you can catch a little shade when you want on sunny days, and it's got a great sound system that we rocked out to during much of our trip! His playlist matched us perfectly! This was the first time I had been out with Capt. Clinton but it won't be the last...highly recommend him. A great captain and an overall great person to spend a day with out on the water. Thanks again, El Capitan...we'll see you next time!" - Greg
"Absolutely incredible trip. Caught our limit of red fish with time to spare. Captain Clinton knows how to put you on fish" - Andrew
Let's break down the all-star lineup of fish you'll be targeting on this trip:
Redfish: Also known as red drum, these copper-colored bruisers are the crown jewels of Louisiana inshore fishing. They can range from 5 to 40+ pounds, and when they're tailing in shallow water, it's a sight that'll get your heart racing. Redfish put up a stubborn fight and are known for their powerful runs. Fall and winter are prime time for big bulls, but you can catch them year-round.
Speckled Trout: These spotted beauties are prized for both their fight and their flavor. Specks, as we call 'em, are ambush predators that love to hang around structure. They're most active in the cooler months, but summer can be hot for topwater action at dawn and dusk. A limit of these guys means you're in for some fine eating.
Southern Flounder: Flatties are the ninjas of the marsh. They're masters of camouflage, blending in with the bottom until they ambush their prey. Fall is the best time to target big flounder as they migrate to the Gulf to spawn. Landing a doormat (that's a big one, for you newbies) is always a highlight of any trip.
Black Drum: The redfish's cousin, black drum, can grow to enormous sizes. While the big ones are fun to catch, we target the smaller "puppy drums" for their excellent table fare. They love crustaceans, so fishing with crab or shrimp near oyster reefs or pilings is a good bet.
Sheepshead: Don't let their goofy looks fool you – these striped outlaws are some of the wiliest fish in the marsh. With their sheep-like teeth, they're experts at stealing bait. Catching them requires finesse and patience, but man, are they good eating. Winter and early spring are prime sheepshead seasons.
Alright, folks, there you have it – a full day of fishing that'll leave you with sore arms, a full cooler, and stories to last a lifetime. Whether you're looking to scratch that fishing itch or want to introduce the kids to the joys of the sport, our New Orleans Fishing Charters Full Day trip is the ticket. With Get'n Hooked Inshore Adventures, you're not just booking a fishing trip; you're signing up for a day of laughs, learning, and hopefully, some bragging rights.
Don't let this opportunity slip through your fingers like a greased redfish. Spots fill up fast, especially during peak seasons, so give us a shout and let's get your adventure on the books. Trust me, the only thing you'll regret is not doing it sooner. So what are you waiting for? It's time to get hooked on the best fishing New Orleans has to offer!

We had a very enjoyable day with Captain Clinton. The fishing started off slow but once we found the redfish it was pretty steady. Captain Clinton has fished these waters all his life starting at a young age fishing with his father. He will do his best to put you on fish. I highly recommend him if you planning a trip to New Orleans and want to catch a redfish.

Black Drum are the big cousins of redfish, known for their powerful jaws and drum-like sound. They range from 5 to 30 pounds typically, but can get up to 90 pounds. You'll find them in brackish waters around oyster beds, pier pilings, and mudflats. Spring is prime time when they school up to spawn. Anglers love Black Drum for their strong fight and good eating, especially the smaller ones under 15 pounds. They're not picky eaters – crabs, shrimp, and clams are all on the menu. I like to use fresh peeled shrimp or crab on a fish-finder rig. When you're targeting big ones, use heavy tackle and be ready for a battle. Listen for that distinctive drumming sound – it can help you locate a school.
Redfish, or Red Drum, are the rock stars of our inshore waters. They love shallow flats, often tailing in water barely deep enough to cover their backs. Most run 20-30 inches, but they can get much bigger. Look for them around oyster bars, grass flats, and marsh edges. Fall is prime time when big schools gather to spawn. Anglers love reds for their hard-fighting nature and that distinctive tail spot. They'll hit a variety of lures, but nothing beats sight-casting to a tailing red. My go-to trick is using a gold spoon on sunny days – that flash drives them crazy. When you hook one, be ready for some drag-screaming runs. There's nothing quite like watching a big red pull off into the sunset.
Sea Trout, also called Speckled Trout, are a favorite among anglers here. They typically run 14-24 inches and put up a great fight on light tackle. You'll find them in grass flats and shallow waters, especially at night. They love to ambush bait fish, so look for them around structure and drop-offs. Fall and spring are prime seasons when they're most active. Anglers prize sea trout for their delicate, mild flavor and the excitement of topwater strikes. I like to use soft plastic jigs or live shrimp under a popping cork. Here's a local tip: on calm mornings, look for them "slicking" – leaving oily patches on the surface as they feed. Cast just beyond the slick and work your lure through it for some explosive action.
Sheepshead, or convict fish, are a unique catch with their human-like teeth and striped bodies. They usually weigh 1-8 pounds and hang around structures like docks, bridges, and reefs. These fish are experts at stealing bait, so you need to be quick on the hook set. Spring is prime time when they gather to spawn. Anglers love the challenge of catching sheepshead and their excellent table fare. Use small hooks and live bait like fiddler crabs or oysters. My local tip: scrape some barnacles off the pilings to chum them up. Get your bait as close to the structure as possible and watch for that subtle bite. It takes practice, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be hooked on sheepshead fishing.
Southern Flounder are masters of camouflage, blending in with sandy or muddy bottoms. They typically grow 15-18 inches long and can reach up to 33 inches. You'll find them in shallow coastal waters, bays, and estuaries. These ambush predators lie in wait for small fish and crustaceans to swim by. Fall is prime time as they move to deeper water to spawn. Anglers love targeting flounder for their tasty white meat and the challenge of hooking them. They have a reputation as bait stealers, so patience is key. When you feel that telltale "thump," wait a few seconds before setting the hook. I like to use live mullet or mud minnows on a Carolina rig. Drift fishing over sandy bottoms near structure is a great way to cover ground. Keep your bait close to the bottom and be ready for that subtle bite.
