"Captain Clinton gave us a great fishing experience! We caught fish immediately. Other Captains were calling him asking where to find fish. We did half day, starting at 7am. Afterward, he cleaned and bagged the fish for us and recommended a local restaurant that would prepare them for a fantastic lunch. Highly recommend this guy." - Herbert
Redfish are the stars of the show in these waters, and for good reason. These copper-colored bruisers can grow up to 40 inches and put up a fight that'll have your arms burning. They love to cruise the shallows, sometimes with their tails sticking right out of the water – a sight that'll get any angler's heart racing. Fall and winter are prime time for big bulls, but you can catch them year-round. The thrill of watching a big red inhale your bait in crystal clear water is something you've got to experience to believe.
Speckled trout are another local favorite. These tasty fish school up in the cooler months, and when you find 'em, it's non-stop action. They're not as big as the reds, but what they lack in size they make up for in numbers. Cap'n Clinton knows all the deep holes and oyster reefs where the specks like to hang out.
Don't overlook the black drum – these ugly cousins of the redfish might not win any beauty contests, but they sure are fun to catch. They can grow to over 100 pounds, and even the smaller ones put up a great fight. You'll find them rooting around on the bottom, often in the same areas as the reds.
Flounder and sheepshead round out the inshore slam. Flounder are masters of camouflage, blending in perfectly with the sandy bottom. But Cap'n Clinton's got a keen eye for spotting them, and he'll show you how to entice these flatfish to bite. Sheepshead, with their distinctive black and white stripes, are the tough guys of the marsh. They love structure and have a knack for stealing bait, but when you hook one, you're in for a treat – they're excellent table fare.
Listen, folks, if you want to experience the best fishing New Orleans has to offer, you need to get out on the water with Cap'n Clinton. This isn't just another fishing trip – it's a chance to learn from a true master of the marsh, make some unforgettable memories, and maybe even bring home dinner. Whether you're looking to bend a rod on some bull reds or fill the cooler with a mixed bag of inshore species, Cap'n Clinton's got you covered. Spots fill up fast, especially during peak seasons, so don't wait. Give Get'n Hooked Inshore Adventures a call and lock in your date. Trust me, your future self will thank you when you're out there, watching the sun rise over the bayou, with a screaming drag and a big ol' redfish on the line. Book now and get ready for the fishing trip of a lifetime!

Had a great time, the water was choppy with some heavy winds and Captain De Armas had us on the fish as soon as he stopped the boat. First cast we had a Red. Just about hit our limit on Reds, caught a speckled trout, a largemouth and a drum. Had a fantastic time and would recommend him to anyone reading this review. Next time I'm in New Orleans I will hire him as our guide again.

Captain Clint and his first mate for the day, Captain Brad, gave us a great trip. We had 2 adults and 4 kids ages 10-13. Kids got excellent instruction on technique and always had ready help baiting hooks and managing lines. Our trip was on a hot July day and the fishing was challenging, but captain found the big redfish and we landed several. Nearly got a 6 foot black tip shark in the boat too — big thrill for the kids. Kids had fun throughout the day and caught many smaller fish too. Safety and all equipment is top notch. Boat is the sort of high-end center console in a dedicated sport fishing configuration you wish you could buy, but never would as a recreational fisherman. I grew up in the area and this is the best sport fishing on light tackle you’ll find. Captain Clint is a pro fisher, knows the local water and fish, and he provides helpful tips even if you’re an experienced angler. I return frequently to visit friends and family and we’ll definitely book again.

Just to add to what my husband had to say... this trip with Clinton was by far the best experience with any guide we've ever used. It's immediately apparent that he truly cares about the customer's experience from beginning to end. He even took the time to clean and bag our fish when there was quite a nasty storm upon us. We will definitely be booking a trip again, thanks Captain Clinton!

Such a great experience, would highly recommend Captain Clinton to anyone! He was so helpful and even though we had a late start due to rain, he patiently waited with us for the weather to pass and made sure we had a great time! He helped my husband catch red fish, a shark, a stingray, and a crab among other things. He even helped me, a total amateur, catch a red fish. :)

Black Drum are the big cousins of Redfish, known for their powerful jaws and drumming sounds. They average 5-30 pounds but can hit 90. You'll find them in brackish waters, around oyster beds and mudflats. Spring's the best time, when they school up to spawn. Anglers love 'em for their strong fight and good eating, especially the smaller ones under 15 pounds. Use fresh crab or shrimp on the bottom – their sensitive barbels help them find food. Here's a local tip: if you're after the big ones, try fishing deeper channels during incoming tides. Just remember, those big bruisers over 30 pounds can be tough and not as tasty. Black Drum are great for newer anglers too, since they're not as picky as some other fish.
Redfish, or Red Drum, are the stars of our Louisiana marshes. They're easy to spot with that black dot near the tail. Most run 20-30 inches, but they can grow over 40 inches in the right spots. You'll find them tailing in shallow water, often less than 2 feet deep. They love hanging around oyster reefs, marsh edges, and grass flats. Fall's the prime time when they school up, but you can catch 'em year-round. Anglers can't get enough of their hard fights and great eating. Use live bait like shrimp or mullet, or throw gold spoons and topwater lures. Here's a local secret: on hot days, look for them gulping air in deeper holes – it's called "chuggin'" and it's a dead giveaway. Just be ready for an explosive strike when they hit!
Sea Trout, also called Speckled Trout, are a favorite here in the marshes. They're sleek, silvery fish with spots all over, usually 14-24 inches long. You'll find them in grass flats and shallow waters, especially at night. They love to ambush bait, so look for them around drop-offs or cuts in the marsh. Spring and fall are great seasons, but you can catch 'em year-round. Anglers love their aggressive strikes and tasty, flaky meat. Use live shrimp under a popping cork or try artificial lures like jerk baits and topwater plugs. Here's a local trick: on calm mornings, look for them "slicking" – leaving oily patches on the surface as they feed. That's a dead giveaway for where to cast. Just remember, they have soft mouths, so don't horse them in.
Sheepshead, or "convict fish," are a unique catch with their human-like teeth and black stripes. They typically run 1-8 pounds and hang around structures like docks, bridges, and reefs. Early spring's prime time when they gather to spawn. Anglers love the challenge – these guys are notorious bait stealers. Use light tackle and small hooks with fresh crab, shrimp, or fiddler crabs. My tip? Feel for little nibbles and set the hook fast. They're masters at stripping bait, so you gotta be quick. The fight's fun, and the meat's sweet and delicious. Just watch out for those sharp dorsal spines when handling 'em. Sheepshead are great eating, but can be tricky to clean – worth the effort though!
Southern Flounder are masters of camouflage, blending into sandy or muddy bottoms with both eyes on their left side. They typically range from 15-18 inches, but can grow up to 33 inches. You'll find them in shallow coastal waters, bays, and estuaries. Fall is prime time as they move to spawn offshore. Anglers love targeting them for their tasty, white meat and the challenge of spotting them. They're ambush predators, so use live bait or slow-moving lures near the bottom. My go-to trick? Fan-cast an area, then let your bait sit. Flounder often wait for food to come to them, so patience pays off. When you feel that distinctive "thump," set the hook hard – these flat fish can be tricky to land.
