New Orleans Rigolets Trout & Croaker Action with 50-Year Captain

Hot bite and happy crew! Henry and their crew joined me for an afternoon fall session that started around midday with skies becoming cloudy in the afternoon, which actually worked in our favor on the Rigolets waters. The changing light conditions from the cloud cover made for ideal inshore fishing as we launched our Get'n Hooked Inshore Adventures trip.

With our gear rigged and ready, we focused our efforts using a combination of drift fishing, bottom fishing, and casting with lures to work the productive Rigolets area. The Rigolets system offers excellent inshore opportunities because of its diverse structure and tidal flow, making it perfect for multiple techniques throughout a single trip. We rotated between drifting the deeper channels, working the bottom structure, and casting lures along the shorelines to maximize our coverage. We didn't stick a trophy on this run, but every cast and minute on the water was worth it, and we wrapped up with great memories and plenty of action.

The Rigolets continues to be one of my favorite inshore destinations here in New Orleans, and if you're looking to experience what makes Louisiana fishing special, I'd love to have you aboard for your own Get'n Hooked Inshore Adventures trip. Our afternoon inshore sessions like this one give anglers the perfect opportunity to target multiple species using drift fishing, bottom fishing, and lure casting techniques that work so well in these waters. Whether you're after your first inshore experience or you're a seasoned angler wanting to explore the Rigolets system, our half-day evening trips provide excellent value and action. The fall season offers some of the most consistent fishing we see all year, and the afternoon timing allows us to fish through the prime feeding periods when the light starts to change. Contact us to book your New Orleans inshore adventure and discover why the Rigolets has become such a productive fishery for our guests year after year.

Fishing Report Today

Southern Flounder

New Orleans, Louisiana Fishing!

Todays trip was more than filling a box with fish. Mr Dave came onboard with his daughter Lindsay, her husband BJ, and importantly, his friend/fishing buddy Max of over 60 years who has dementia. Many of laughs and memories today from everyone.

Some highlights from today…
Ms Lindsay caught probably 70% of the fish…. on a barbless hook (barbless was not intentional). Then when got to our second spot, a flock of seagulls kept attacking our baits. We had about 6-7 of them flying off with our baits/hooks. Thankfully, we didn’t hook any. Also, as I was putting a red in the box I noticed something on one of the reds in the box. When I took it out the box, it had a hook in its mouth. After further looking.... it was one of my hooks from who knows when.

All in all, they finished with 10 reds (one bull), 5 rat reds, a nice sheepshead, a tank bass, and a flounder that didn’t want to take the boat ride back to the marina.

New Orleans Fishing Report

The fishing for Redfish near New Orleans has been good the past couple days! The fish are more likely to be found in ones and twos rather than the big schools we see when the water is cooler. Thats all the more reason to come fish with us, well show you were to find them and help you land em too!

We are casting at singular fish in shallow water. The heat has pushed a lot of the Redfish to shallower water here in New Orleans but we are still getting into good numbers of them! The hunt is on!

New Orleans Fishing report

The fishing has been good for the past few weeks here around New Orleans. We have been fishing for Redfish mostly and have been catching them using a few different methods. If you are planning a vacation to New Orleans or if your local book now for your shot at some of these awesome Redfish.

Early Season Redfish

So…. had some interesting fish caught on todays charter. I can’t say I’ve ever seen one of these, or any of the ones I’m about to mention, in 47 years of fishing.
To start, my client caught a redfish with no lower dorsal fins. A few casts later, caught a red that only had one lower dorsal Fin.
